So everyone knows The Devil Went Down To Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band. Great song, great story (that’s been a staple of rock since the beginning), and just all-around fun. Plus, it’s one of those songs where you can sing it in a group of people and no matter who it is, someone always knows the lyrics. Just like the guy who can do Rapper’s Delight back-to-back. More on that later…
Anyway, everyone knows that one, but not many people know that there was a sequel to the song released in 1993. In 2009, sequel may be the worst word you can utter to get people interested in something that is already classic (see last year’s horrendous relases of sequels or just watch Speed 2 again), but add in the fact that it’s got Johnny Cash and it’s about the epic rematch (way better than GSP-Penn 2) between Johnny and the eponymous devil and you have the making for a kick-ass song.
